Huntsville, AL- All of the candidates have been interviewed.
Now it's up to the Madison County school board to select a new superintendent.
The board interviewed the final two candidates Thursday.
First up, Dr. david Copeland, a superintendent in Crane, Missouri.
Copeland has 31- years experience in education.
He says he wants to bring a positive atmosphere to the Madison County school system.
"I'd like to bring a team atmosphere in and camaraderie. I really feel strongly about a team atmosphere in school and that's not just in the boundaries of the school, but with the community and patrons as well," said Copeland.
The fifth and final candidate was Dr. Les Bivens who is no stranger to the Valley.
He spent four years as superintendent of Limestone County Schools before moving to Kentucky.
He is currently the superintendent in Frankfort.
Bivens says he would like to close the achievement gap scores..... starting with early education.
He also wants to focus on new hires.
"I want to bring really highly qualified personnel into the district to hire them. And there are plenty out there right now. It's a buyer's market," said Bivens.
The Madison County school board could decide as soon as Friday who they'd like to hire as the system's new superintendent.
That person will replace Dr. Terry Davis who retired at the end of November.
