Etowah County Patrol Cars Targeted by Thieves - UPDATED

Gadsden, AL - Etowah County Sheriff Todd Entrekin says five patrol cars from several different law enforcement agencies have been broken into since Sunday night, and weapons have been stolen from the vehicles.

Entrekin says in each case, the vehicles were locked, but the thieves broke out windows to gain access.

The vehicles were parked at :
Etowah County Sheriff’s Office and Sardis City Police Department in Reece City
Gadsden Police Department on Noccalula Mountain
Gadsden Police Department in Hokes Bluff
Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office in Southside

break-ins, AR15 shotguns, and rifles were stolen, along with bullet proof vests.

The FBI and ATF are now involved in the investigation.
