He's an explorer, He skippered an Americas Cup team, and he's an emmy award winning filmmaker. All this while dealing with dyslexia.
5 months, 8,500 miles and a record setting trip from the Atlantic to the Pacific Ocean through what's known as the Northwest Passage.
" Man has been trying to find that shortcut through that route, and we were the first production power boat in history to do it. We came back with 300 hours of HD video and about 2,500 stills, and for quite a while up there it didn't look like we were going to get out in one piece, said Sprague Theobald, explorer/filmmaker.
Sprague is traveling around the country talking about a book and documentary on his expereince. He intended to research the controversial topic of "global warming". Is there really such a thing as global warming? Or is it just a political tool used to further an agenda? His findings......
"I am much more confused than when I went. I think it just comes down to the basics, yes something is happening, it could be cyclical, it could be man made, nobody knows."
One thing he does know for sure, is that during his travels promoting this project he wants to inspire kids with dyslexia. Something he knows all about.
" I turned into the bad boy of the school, I was the joke of the school. The fury and anger that bring up in a child is indescribable. I really had no where to go.
" That's what I wanted to tell the kids. It's going to stay with you. Learn to accept it. Once you accept it, dream,,, dream because you have the tenacity of working with this learning disability. Therefore you have the tenacity to accomplish your dreams."
