Are you tired of that old furniture you've had since the 70's? Would you like to update and re-fresh your style with out having to make a trip to the furniture store?
" We started with stuff that we had around our house, or "treasures furniture" that our friends and family had that they didn't want anymore," said Lisa Doll of Artichoke Alley.
Doll started Artichoke Alley about a year and half ago.
"We'd go to a couple auctions, we'd go to thrift stores, garage sales and find furniture that appeals to us, then we would start fixing it up and painting and refinishing."
So here's the deal with the name Artichoke Alley. Like an artichoke she gets pieces that are not too attractive on the outside, kind of rough and scratchy. But, after peeling away those outside layers underneath you find something useful even attractive.
"So this is a French Provincial style chair. But, it was just plain pecan and I thought it needed a pop. So I did it in cornbread yellow."
The Artichoke Alley Facebook page has become a big part of this operation. There's lots of great pieces finished and un-finished for folks to tell Lisa what they want or..........
"People started asking, if they had pieces around their house would we be willing to fix them for them. So that's how we got into customization."
" People have a lot of stuff and they get tired of it because it's not their style today, but it was 10 years ago. But it can be again."
