Ft. Payne, AL - The DeKalb County Sheriff's Office continues its investigation into a Friday stabbing in the Shiloh community.
According to Sheriff Jimmy Harris, the incident happened around 4:30 p.m. on Tumlin Road. Harris says his deputies along with Fyffe Police officers responded to an emergency call and found a 30 year old man bleeding profusely from the abdomen. The victim was rushed to the hospital as officers secured the scene and began talking to witnesses.
Those witnesses told investigators that the victim and a 27 year old acquaintance got into a fight over a woman at the house. The argument started as a verbal conflict, and escalated to a fight that ended with the man being stabbed twice in the stomach.
The man suspected of stabbing the victim fled the scene. His car was found abandoned later that night in the Lebanon area. The victim was treated by DeKalb Ambulance Services staff before being airlifted to Huntsville Hospital. He remains in stable condition as of Tuesday morning.
The suspect remains on the loose, but is expected to appear at the DeKalb County Sheriff's Office with an attorney soon.
