Madison , AL - A Bob Jones High teacher is celebrating tonight after winning a national award.

Engineering teacher Jeremy Raper was awarded the prestigious Milken Family Foundation National Educator Award Wednesday during a special assembly. The award comes with a $25,000 prize, and is selected by the Milken family. Nominations are not sought or accepted, making it one of the more difficult awards to be recognized with.

When Raper arrived for the assembly, he had no idea he'd be the center of attention. "I had no clue." Raper told WAAY 31. "I was totally blown away. I was trying to think through all the science teachers.. 'who could it be?' I never thought it would be me."

Raper says he plans to take his family on a trip to celebrate.
