Montgomery, AL - Governor Robert Bentley told the crowd Tuesday evening his first year in office was a success...with 41 thousand more Alabamians working now than one year ago.
One of those places helping to get Alabama back to work is Hackleburg. The governor praised the efforts of the rebuilding of the wrangler plant after the April 27th tornadoes devastated the town.

"The mayor, the county commissioners, local legislators, and our Alabama Development Office helped me with one common goal - saving the community.
And our teamwork paid off. Wrangler executives heard our message and agreed to not only rebuild in Hackleburg, but to expand from 150 jobs to 250 jobs for the community."

The governor also vowed to improve Alabama's roads.

"We will work with local leaders to find out what roads need repair and we will get them fixed as soon as possible."

Even though the Governor says there is a major shortfall in the budget with 25 to 30 percent less money to provide basic services,
he vows he will not raise taxes.

"I promised the people of this state that I would not raise taxes on the people of Alabama and I'm going to keep my word... The people in this state expect us to live within our means and that's exactly what we are going to do."

The governor says he also plans to carry out an aggressive education agenda....that includes providing teachers with a dollar for dollar tax credit for school supplies they have to purchase out of their own pocket.
