NEW YORK CITY (WAAY) - Oakwood University has taken its marketing campaign to the Big Apple.

For the last two months, the Huntsville university has been advertising in New York's Times Square.

For four minutes every day, Oakwood has aired multimedia messages on a marquee in Times Square reaching an estimated 986,000 visitors. The messages have included a recent endorsement from U.S. News and World Report and a testimonial from Oakwood alum and U.S. Senate chaplain Barry Black.

In a news release, Oakwood officials said they have been working to expand awareness to non-traditional audiences. So when Neutron Media had a cancellation, they contacted the university.

Oakwood officials said they will continue to explore new ways to market the university.
