PHIL CAMPBELL, Ala. (WAAY) On April 27, 2011 Phil Campbell was ravaged by an EF5 tornado. Mountain View Baptist Church was completely destroyed.

Today, they had their fist church service in their new building, which is on the site where the old one once stood. Over 1,600 volunteers from twenty states and across the world came to help Mountain View Baptist rebuild.

Sammy Taylor the Pastor at Mountain View Baptist Church said, "I can remember in April 27, 2011 looking at the hill, and that church took a direct hit from an ef5 tornado, and god just in a still small voice said everything is going to be okay."

Just about every seat was filled in the sanctuary. The pastor also said his congregation never lost their faith and that was key in the recovery and construction of their new church.
