PRICEVILLE, Ala. (WAAY) - Women from all over Morgan County showed up in Priceville Tuesday night, hoping to learn more about using guns. Sheriff Ana Franklin went over the basic mechanics of using a gun and dispelled what she called firearm myths.

The focus was not only on how to use a gun, but on gun safety, as well.

Some women who showed up said they think it's crucial to understand how to protect yourself with a gun. Sheriff Franklin said it's a great opportunity for women to become comfortable with firearms and something they've been asking for, for a while.

"What we wanted to do is give them an opportunity to come and have certified firearms instructors go over the basic safety techniques and allow them to see that the weapon is not something that you need to be afraid of," said Sheriff Ana Franklin.

The Sheriff's Dept. will be holding an all-female shooting course with real guns, this saturday at 9 A.M. The fee for for that course is $40.00.

You can contact the Morgan County Sheriff's Dept. for details on that.
