ATHENS, Ala. (WAAY) - Police arrested a man Thursday who they said admitted buying kittens off of the Internet and killing them.

Ronald Fraser Golden, 48, is charged with 22 counts of first-degree cruelty to a cat, which is a felony.

According to Athens Police Chief Floyd Johnson, officers received a report of dead kitten carcasses found in the area of Bullington Road Sept. 29. They also received an anonymous tip Golden was killing the kittens.

While interviewing Golden, police said he admitted buying them off of Craigslist, naming them and then killing them. Police said he also told investigators he had a "cat room" where he would throw the kittens against the floor to break their necks, stomp on them or wring their necks.

Police searched Golden's property and said they found five dead kittens at the back of the property. In the home, they said they found blood spattered on the walls and floor.

They also found two live kittens and two dogs. Police said the dogs were not abused.

Police said Golden told them he had been killing the kittens since July, and that he was "angry at the world."

Golden was held for a mental evaluation after being interviewed Sept. 30 and was arrested Thursday after being released. He was taken to the Limestone County Jail. Bail was set at $22,000.
