TOWN CREEK, Ala. (WAAY) - Police have arrested a man who they said had more than a thousand dollars in counterfeit money.

Benjamin "BJ" Howlet, 20, Town Creek, was charged with possessing counterfeit currency after his arrest Sunday on an unrelated drug charge.

An officer arresting Howlet for a drug indictment found $1,020 in Howlet's pocket while patting him down for weapons. Town Creek police Chief Jerry Garrett said the officer inspected the money and found all of the bills had the same serial numbers.

Howlet's bond on the drug charge is set at $15,000. He was also charged with possession of a forged instrument, but bond has not been set on that charge as police investigate.
