FLORENCE, Ala. (WAAY) - A Florence man is facing several charges after authorities say he got into a scuffle with an officer and tried to take his gun.

Phillip Dewayne Quinn, 37, is charged with assault of a law enforcement officer, domestic violence harassment, resisting arrest, criminal coercion and disarming a law enforcement officer.

According to the Lauderdale County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to a domestic call just after midnight Sunday at Quinn's home on Chisholm Road. Deputies say Quinn threatened his wife, and when a deputy took him to a patrol car they got into a struggle where Quinn grabbed at the deputy's weapon.

Another deputy came to help and Quinn eventually was subdued with the help of a Taser, authorities said.

Quinn is out on bond.
