LIMESTONE COUNTY, Ala. (WAAY) -Helicopters from the Limestone and Morgan County Sheriff's Departments took off Thursday morning loaded down with donated toys for the Children's Hospital in Birmingham.

The helicopters met up with Santa and other sheriff's departments to land on top of the hospital. They delivered the toys to children that are unable to go home for Christmas.

Morgan County Sheriff Ana Franklin went along for the ride. "It's really great that we can come in as law enforcement and be able to do some things during the Christmas season that is helpful for folks you know a lot of times we only get to see the tragedies or the bad things that happen over the holidays" says Sheriff Franklin.

Sheriff Franklin says the toy delivery was also a disaster response training exercise to coordinate landing on top of a building to drop off supplies.
