DEKALB COUNTY, Ala. (WAAY) - A Henagar man is in the DeKalb County Detention Center after authorities said he led them on a chase Monday night.
According to DeKalb County Sheriff Jimmy Harris, John William Goodale, 39, refused to stop for an Alabama State Trooper around 10 p.m. Monday on Interstate 59 just south of Fort Payne.
Troopers, Fort Payne police and DeKalb County deputies pursued Goodale as he drove the wrong way north on I-59 until exiting at Alabama Highway 117, Harris said. The chase ended at a dead end on County Road 674, when Harris said Goodale jumped out of the vehicle and ran into a wooded area. Authorities found him a short time later.
Harris said a search of Goodale's vehicle turned up two ounces of methamphetamine and seven guns, three of which were stolen.
Goodale was charged with attempting to elude, possession of a controlled substance, receiving stolen property and nonpayment of child support. His bond was set at $33,000, and Harris said more charges are pending.
