MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WAAY) - Alabama Supreme Court justices refused to consider a new trial for Jason Michael Sharp Friday.
Sharp, 36, is on death row for the 1999 murder of Tracy Morris. Morris, a Huntsville nurse, was sexually assaulted and stabbed to death. Sharp was convicted in 2006.
A state appeals court ordered a new trial for Sharp but reversed itself last year. His appeal centered on whether prosecutors improperly removed blacks as jurors in Sharp's trial.
Sharp stalked Morris for nearly two years before her murder. The crime resulted in the 2012 passing of Tracy's Law, which made stalking in Alabama a felony.
