Most Memorable Story - 2 actually! First was my 2 days in Hurricane Katrina several days after landfall my photographer and I flew to Baton Rouge by helicopter, then rode to the New Orleans Airport where we shot a number of stories. The airport was turned into a huge hospital. I interviewed several families who survived the storm. One family in particular had their 90 year old grandmother. They sat on-top of their building several days until fire firefighters rescued them. I will always remember that interview!! Oh, and seeing the thousands of injured being cared for by thousands of doctors who were working for free? It was amazing!!
My second most memorable story was interviewing a 16 yr old teen in a Indiana State prison after he was convicted in 1998 for the murder of a South Bend, IN police officer. The teen, Greg Dickins shot the officer after a foot chase. After covering the trial, I will always remember our interview behind bars, and what it's like looking into the eyes of a killer.
Role Model - Has to be my father!! and Mother. They were and are my role models. I've learned so much from them, how to treat people with kindness, and setting goals, keep God first are all qualities I learned from the folks
Favorite Sports Team- Washington DC Redskins NFL team!! I've been a life long fan of the 'skins since I grew up in Maryland. 1989 Superbowl champs, former coach Joe Gibbs took 3 different quarterbacks to 3 different Super Bowls.
Favorite musicians- Take 6 (An acapella jazz gospel group)
Favorite Vacation Spot- Hawaii, Florida, Gulf Shores
First TV Appearance- WHAG-TV, the NBC in Hagerstown, Maryland in 1995 where I landed my first on-air reporting job
Dream Job - WRC NBC in Washington DC, the number one station in DC!! I would
love to work there as a Reporter in my hometown
Why I like working in the Tennessee Valley? Huntsville is a sort of home coming for me since I have 40 relatives here and I attended Oakwood University. Since I was a child I've been coming here for Christmas and Thanksgivings to visit family. I love this area and I feel honored to have a job where I get to meet so many wonderful folks and cover stories that impact the lives of people in this great area
