Hometown: Franklin Lakes, NJ
Birthday: March 1
Year Hired at WAAY: 2010
Family, kids and siblings: Parents (Bob & Emmy), and younger brother Daniel, who’s a high school student at my alma mater, Dwight-Englewood School.
Family Pets: None (besides my little brother)
Hobbies: Photography, snow and water skiing, dining out, and traveling to visit friends
Alma Mater: Duke University—go Blue Devils!
Most Memorable Interview or Story:I’d have to say covering a contentious Huntsville school board meeting in the summer of 2010. Experiencing firsthand how passionate the community is about educating our young was very powerful. I also relished the opportunity to represent the various viewpoints equally and honestly when reporting the story.
Role Model:My grandmother, Renee. She’s survived insurmountable hardships, and is the sweetest woman you’ll ever meet. Oh, and she speaks seven languages and is a formidable force in the kitchen.
Favorite Food:Lean Cuisines. Just kidding, but since I lack my grandmother’s culinary skills, I eat low-calorie frozen dinners all too often!
Favorite Sports Team:I’ll root for any Duke team—but I’ve also become a Crimson Tide fan since moving to Alabama. I can often be spotted cruising around the Valley with the top down, sporting my fairly new ‘Bama baseball cap…
Favorite Musician:I love most country, but if I had to choose a favorite artist, it’d have to be Brooks & Dunn. Too bad they’re breaking up!
Star Sign: Pisces
Favorite Vacation Spot: Vail, Colorado
First TV Appearance:Before becoming a reporter myself, I was interviewed by reporters for several “man on the street” stories, asking for opinions on various topics. Perhaps the coolest was while I was studying abroad in Paris. Thankfully I was interviewed by a British reporter, so I didn’t have to provide sound bites in French!
Your Dream Job:To be a ‘FOX News babe.’ But seriously, I’d love to have Megyn Kelly’s job.
Favorite TV Show:I am a huge fan of AMC’s Mad Men. Only TV show ever to win the ‘Best Drama’ Emmy award three years in a row!
Why do you like working in the Tennesee Valley and at WAAY 31:I love the positive vibe pervasive in the Tennessee Valley. Times are tough across the board, but our area is among the lucky ones that are growing. I’m happy to be here!
To me, the best parts about WAAY are the great people I work with, and the beautiful views of the Valley from the newsroom. Not all stations can boast a gorgeous view from the top of a mountain!
