ALABAMA- Motorists traveling northbound on Interstate 65 will soon be facing a detour. The Alabama Department of Transportation will close both northbound lanes between Hartselle and Priceville as early as next week.
According to ALDOT spokesperson Rebecca White, heavy rains and last year's cold weather have caused a slide in the same area where a sinkhole was repaired two years ago. ALDOT is deciding the best way to reinforce the damaged section of the road.
When constrution begins, ALDOT asks motorists to consider using alternate routes, adjust travel times, observe work zone speed limits, and use extreme caution in the area. In the past, traffic was routed off I-65, down Highway 31 to Highway 67.
