The day after Valentine's Day, Harvey Cotten came by with a bit of horticultural trivia for Meredeith : What color are the flowers on a white Dogwood? They're not white! The flowers are actually yellow. "The February bloomers are typically yellow and are followed by a beautiful cherry-like red fruit that birds love." Cotten said. "So, it's a great plant, large shrub/small tree."
Harvey's Tips for the Week :
- Till your vegetable garden when the ground can be worked – do not till when soil is wet. Add organic matter and lime if needed
- Spot spray broadleaf weeds in dormant season lawns
- Plant bare root or container roses in well-drained soil
