" The trail opened in 1992. The vision of Dr. Bronner was to change the image of this state using golf as a vehicle," said Steve Mack VP of Operations for the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail.
2012 is the 20 year anniversary of the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail. Wether you play golf regularly or have never picked up a club in your life, there's no denying the impact of the Trail on the state of Alabama and more specifically the benefits brought forth by the construction of a world class golfing destination in Hampton Cove.
" The economic impact that it's had on the city of Huntsville is incredible. You are talking about soy bean fields that we built the River Course on and a mountain over here. There was nothing in this area. Now you've got over 4,000 homes, you've got a community with all the amenities and you don't have to drive back over the mountain.
11 sites and 26 courses in total across the state. In North Alabama we claim 2 of those locations, Hampton Cove and the Shoals. Both bringing in millions of dollars to the local economy.
" During our 20 year anniversary we're going to play our 10,000,000 visitor. That includes people from in the state, the country and the world. It's amazing what this trail has done and how world wide it is recognized."
And, if you're a golfer to celebrate 20 years.... 20 dollar green fees on the 20th of each month for the entire year.
