Congressional Candidates Address Tone of Campaign Ads

Posted:

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WAAY) - The battle between Parker Griffith and Wayne Parker has reached a fever pitch in the last couple of weeks. On Thursday, there was a call for calm from one of the candidates.

There are just 25 days left until 5th Congressional District votes, and the intensity of the campaign has only only gotten stronger. Parker has questioned Griffith's past as a doctor, while Griffith said Parker lacks substance in his campaign.

Griffith called a media conference Thursday to condemn attack ads pointed in his direction, saying he and Parker need to focus on the issues. However, moments later with cameras rolling, the attack resumed.

"I don't think he has anything to say for himself," Griffith said. "I think he truly is an empty suit. He reminds me of a lifeguard who doesn't want to learn how to swim."

Parker continued pressing his attack while campaigning in Mooresville.

"He can say what he wants and he wanted to compare life records, and I think these documents have really spoken to his medical past,"Parker said.

Both candidates say they aren't afraid to address the issues and actually spoke about their plans for the 5th District if they're elected.

"I want to bring Belfont online, 2000 jobs, developing a four-year medical school here," Griffith said. Huge job creation, bringing 24/7 industry."

"Yes, I want to be a part of getting our national debt under control, spending under control, immigration control, energy independence -- these are things that we've got to do," Parker said.  "And that's just a support of what we call good, traditional American values."
