A Madison County teen is killed in a car crash while away at college.
18-year-old Amy Elliot of Madison died in a wreck on Alabama 119 near Cobblestone Apartments Monday night.
Elliot was a freshman at the University of Montevallo.
She graduated from Sparkman High earlier this year.
The university says four other students were injured in the wreck, two were still in the hospital today.
A remembrance ceremony will be held for Elliot on Monday, November 30th at the Tutwiler Quad on the Montevallo campus.
The Montevallo Police Department is investigating the accident.
The Madison County school system released this statement:
"It is with regret and sorrow to hear of the death of Amy Elliott, a May 2009 graduate of Sparkman High School. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Elliott family in the lost of such promising young lady and future elementary teacher.
May the days ahead bring comfort as we reflect on the contributions she has made to her family, her friends, and those she has touched."
