Brand new figures released early Friday morning show Alabama's unemployment rate has reached a new high.

The new report from the Alabama Department of Industrial Relations shows that jobless rate in October hit 10.9%. It was 5.6% one year ago.

The figure represents more than a quarter million Alabamians out of work, with an additional 3,800 added last month.
