For many families, watching fireworks on the 4th of July is a tradition.
"It's just the excitement of the colors and the sounds and it's just something we've always done since I can remember," said Melinda Bauermeister.
After a year of planning, one of the largest firework shows in Madison County will be here at Bridge Street Town Centre in Huntsville.
The man behind the boom, Lynn Broad said the show will be 18 minutes long and packed with entertainment.
"It's all choreographed to music. One of the very first things we have Ronald Reagan in a memorial to the fallen speech and there's a 21 gun salute and those solutes go off to the music that's playing in the background and then every portion of the show is color choreographed," said Broad.
The cost for the fireworks alone is $18,000, but the Bridge Street spokesperson says it's worth the cost because more than 25 thousand people are expected to attend. Donation drop boxes will be set out for charity.
The Bridge Street spokesperson, Amy Welch said, "With the economy the way it is and wanting to raise donations for the National Children's Advocacy Center we thought we needed to put a little bit more behind it to get people to come out here to Bridge Street to donate."
This year's fireworks are 2 minutes shorter than last year's, but we're told there are more blasts packed in even and the cost is the same.
Saturday's 18 minute show will be jammed backed with 1200 bursts in the sky and to make that kind of production it takes 800 pounds of explosives.
12 year old Taylor Bauermeister said her favorite part of the fireworks was the beautiful colors.
But fireworks aside, Taylor still had a sense of what the holiday was all about.
"It's about when we got to be free." said Taylor.
All of the Bridge Street fireworks are paper based, no plastic is used.
This makes the fireworks more environmentally friendly.
Bridge Street's fireworks show is Saturday night at 8:45.
