The economy may have put a damper on Fourth of July celebrations across the country.
But that's not the case in the Shoals.
Crews worked all day to set up for the 28th annual Spirit of Freedom Festival.
It's an all-day celebration at McFarland Park in Florence.
There will be live music and fireworks.
Best of all, it's free!
Organizers say, there's no better time for a celebration.
Debbie Wilson of the Florence-Lauderdale Tourism Board says, "I think we're going to have one of the biggest crowds ever because people do need that release, for something positive to do even when times are tough."
The Spirit of Freedom Festival begins at 10:30 Saturday morning.
The fireworks show starts at 9 p.m.
Headliner and country music singer, Daryle Singletary, will take the stage at 9:30.
