A man and woman are in custody for stealing a vehicle on 6th Avenue in Decatur Tuesday afternoon.

Decatur police said they believe the two stole the vehicle from the Chevron on 6th Avenue near the Hudson Memorial Bridge around 12:45 p.m. Authorities chased the two and at one point, police said their vehicle hit an undercover police vehicle and continued the chase.

The vehicle crashed on the I-65 bridge going over the Tennessee River, Alabama State Troopers said. The woman, who police said was driving, jumped out of the vehicle and ran. Troopers said they took the man into custody at the scene.

The woman was taken into custody around 3 p.m., police said.

No one was injured in the chase, according to troopers.

Police have not released the suspects' names or charges they may be facing.

The chase and crash led to congested traffic on I-65 south between I-565 and the bridge.
