Neighbors at the Overlook Apartments Complex in Huntsville on Sparkman Drive are speaking to WAAY 31 after an over night shooting.

Many of them heard the gunshots after midnight. They've noticed several shootings and are no longer surprised it's happening.

Jarod Matlock lives next door to the man who was shot at.

"Not hearing a shot within 10 or 20 feet of me, was kind of weird. Not a scary thing. Like, what can you not hear with headphones on?" said Jarod Matlock.

Matlock said he couldn't hear anything wearing his headphones. It wasn't until police officers knocked on his door and asked if he knew what happened.

"I saw the blood trail and they told me it was a shooting," Matlock said. He and other neighbors tell me they've heard other gunshots in the past.

"My daughter was held 2 months ago at gun point. She complied with them. We had an officer come out," said Stephanie Cannatella.

Stephanie Cannatella said she shouldn't be afraid to walk outside her own home.

"It's a scary situation. I do feel scared to come out. We do have to wash our clothes in the laundry mat," Cannatella said.

The owner of a car tells me her car was shot at the day before Thanksgiving and the window was broken into two days ago.

"The people down from us got broken into as well and everything they got was stolen," Cannatella said.

Now there's only one thing left for her to do.

"We just called about 10 minutes ago to see if we can get out of our lease. She said to come down and she'll talk to us about it. But I don't see it happening," Cannatella said.

WAAY 31 reached out to the Huntsville Police Department about the other shootings and break-ins neighbors told me about. We're still waiting to hear back.
