Customers will still be able to pick up mail from their post office box by going to a truck parked outside.

Employees told costumers at the post office on Thursday that it is closed for remodeling and they hope it'll open in a couple of months. WAAY spoke to the USPS over the phone. They would not give any more details as to why the building was unsafe. They also told us they don't know when the post office will re-open.

"I didn't know what was going on, but I was coming to check my post office box," Pam Marks-Gargis.

On Thursday, Pam Marks-Gargis came to the Muscle Shoals Post Office on Avalon Avenue that she's used countless time. When she arrived, this time, she was surprised to learn this branch has been temporary closed due to unsafe conditions.

"I would have no indication of why the post office would be unsafe," Marks-Gargis told WAAY.

Costumers who did come out Thursday who's business couldn't be accomplished in that truck were told to go to the Tuscumbia office. That office is about 15 minutes away.
