Miss Rodeo USA is in the Tennessee Valley for the 2018 Morgan County sheriff’s rodeo.
Summer Weldon’s rodeo roots run deep in Morgan County. Last year, she was the Morgan County sheriff’s rodeo queen. She won a junior title here four years earlier.
Now, she’s traveling more than a hundred-thousand miles representing the International Professional Rodeo Association.
Just this past January, she was crowned Miss Rodeo USA at the International Finals Rodeo.
Understandably, Morgan County feels a little like home for the 20-year-old.
“I came in 2013 and won the Junior Miss title here, the Rodeo Queen title, and got to meet the committee” Weldon told WAAY 31 News. “And to come back and represent them as a national title, Miss Rodeo USA, is just such an honor because this committee is so awesome.”
Weldon attends UT Martin majoring in Cell and Molecular Biology. She’s working to be a physical and occupational therapist.
The rodeo queens says she wouldn't mind getting a job in the area and living here.
