A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for Jackson and DeKalb Counties from 12 a.m. Monday until 12 p.m. Monday. This is for the threat of freezing rain.
DeKalb County Schools will also be on a three hour delay for Monday morning.
Light rain will move into the Valley between 9 p.m. and 12 a.m.. With the shallow layer of cold air that will linger at the surface we could see some freezing rain. The Shoals won't have anything to worry about since they will just be too warm throughout this whole event to see freezing rain.
You may see some spotty areas of freezing rain for Limestone, Morgan, Madison and Marshall Counties. No issues are really expected for those counties as well.
We may some areas in Jackson and DeKalb Counties get a little more ice due to the surface temperature being at or slightly below 32 degrees for a longer period of time.
The good news is that we will see a warm up early Monday morning, so the areas that do see ice it won't last long to make travel an issue.
Just be cautious if you are traveling between 12 a.m. and 6 a.m. Monday since that will be the best time to see any ice at all.
