Three people were found dead in northwest Huntsville Tuesday afternoon.

The bodies were found in a home near the corner of Knollbrook Drive and Hilltop Terrace, which is just off Blue Spring Road near Winchester Road. The bodies were found around 3:30 p.m., police said.

Huntsville police were on the scene and said it is a homicide investigation.

Police did not say whether they were actively searching for a suspect. They did say two of the people found in the home were related.

When family and friends found out about the triple homicide their emotions burst to the surface.

A neighbor of the victims told WAAY 31 this is a complete shock and doesn't fit the character of their neighborhood.

"It's normally quiet, calm, peaceful, boring at times, but no. Nothing like this," said Michael Battles.

A Lieutenant with the Huntsville Police Department said this investigation is out of the ordinary from what HPD normally sees in homicide investigations.

"I've been at HPD for over twenty years and I cannot remember the last homicide investigation that had three victims in a single house," said Lt. Michael Johnson.

Even though family members are speaking out to WAAY 31, police are still not releasing the names, ages, or genders of the victims.

They said it might impede their investigation.

They aren't saying whether they're looking for one, or multiple suspects.

They can tell us the victims could have died up to 12 hours before they were found around 3:30 this afternoon.

That is when a relative, who had been calling them all morning, stopped by to make sure they were ok.

One person on the scene, who is trying to put an end to an increase in violence he's seen, said this scene is becoming too common in Huntsville.

"It's becoming something of a norm. 'someone else died? Oh, so what it wasn't me.' we're trying to break that," said Cornell Martin, who is creator of Chill Huntsville and Stop the Violence.

The tears, emotions, and anger all lead back to one thought.

"It's a sad day in the city of huntsville," said Martin.

Police are still asking for help to solve this crime.

Anyone with information on the crime is asked to contact Huntsville Area Crime Stoppers at (256) 53-CRIME.
