The Madison County Board of Education has approved recommended personnel actions which include the resignation of New Hope High School football coach Kenny Chadwick.
Chadwick, who was only in his first year at the program, was listed in a Dade County, Georgia arrest report where he was charged with DUI along with other charges September 26. Chadwick took the head coaching position after serving as an assistant at Fort Payne High School.
WAAY 31 contacted New Hope High School, who informed us that the resignation was for "personal reasons."
A former New Hope student did tell WAAY 31 he felt bad that the team lost their coach mid season.
"I mean its really unfortunate for the football team," said Casey Selvage, a former New Hope student. Selvage said he also played on the team during his freshman year.
New Hope (1-5) goes on the road to play Pisgah in a Friday football game. School leaders say an assistant will take over on an interim basis.
