It happened around 10 p.m. Monday night, on East Gateway Drive.
The incident began when two police officers responded to a call about a cutting.
When they arrived, the suspected offender charged at the officers with a knife.
They asked him to stop, but officials say the officers were eventually forced to open fire.
The suspect was taken to Huntsville Hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
According to police, two people were also hurt in the cutting.
The original cutting call came after the suspect attacked his brother with a knife. The brother ran to a neighbor's house for help. But the suspect followed his brother, and attacked the neighbor as well.
The full extent of the brother's injuries are unknown; but they're believed to be non-life-threatening.
But the suspect's neighbor is being treated for life-threatening injuries.
