Holiday Events This Weekend in the Valley

There are several holiday events happening in the Tennessee Valley this weekend. Here are a few :

 

The New Market Christmas parade is set for this Saturday at 1:00 p.m. It'll begin at the New Market School, go down New Market Road, turn onto Powers St., cross Winchester Road and end at the New Market Fire Department. B&B Auto Parts will be on hand collecting toys for local kids.

The City of Madison will have it's Christmas parade Saturday at 5:30 p.m. Several roads will be closed during the event : Hughes Rd at Plaza Blvd, Hughes to Mill Rd., Mill Rd. to Church St., Church St. to Main / Sullivan.

The Hazel Green Christmas parade is Saturday at 7:00 p.m. The theme is "Help Us Salutere the U.S. Armed Forces". It begins at the Hazel Green High School.

The American Red Cross is sponsoring a special Breakfast with Santa at Chuck E. Cheese in the Decatur Mall. Tickets are $10 per child, and one adult gets in free with each child. Tickets are available at the Chuck E. Cheese, or at the Morgan Lawrence County Red Cross at 431 Holly Street in Decatur. If you bring children's toothpaste or shampoo, you can get a free $5 game token. For more information call (256) 353-4891.

The Men of Destiny Present "Twas the Night Before Christmas : A Benefit Concert" on Sunday. Sophia Mobley, Julian Brazier, Sharea Harris, Milton Doggette and more will join ML-6 from WEUP radio. It's at 6:00 p.m. Sunday  at Oakwood University's Moran Hall. The admission is free, but they're asking for monetary donations toiletriesries and / or canned goods for the Downtown Rescue Mission.

You can tour some historic homes in the Old Decatur and Albany neighborhoods of Decatur Saturday from 3:00 - 8:00 p.m. For more information, visit decaturchristmastour.com

The 6th Annual "Operation Christmas Bear" toy drive is set for Saturday at the Cahaba Shrine Temple on Winchester Road. All active duty, reserve and deployed DoD civilians are welcomed to attend. For more information, call 876-5397
