ATHENS, Tenn. (AP) - After hearing a boom in an East Tennessee motel room and a woman yell "Grab the lab" as she ran outside, witnesses told investigators she sped away with a man.
McMinn County investigators told The Daily Post-Athenian in Athens that while responding to a reported fire Monday night at the motel in Riceville, they instead discovered a smoky room and items used to make methamphetamine.
A report shows it was the "shake and bake" method of making the addictive stimulant and a large plastic soda bottle apparently exploded.
Witnesses said they saw a fleeing man and a woman in a pink outfit who repeatedly yelled, "Grab the lab."
Investigators have check-in information and found credit cards. They said the two drove away in a white Scion vehicle and are being sought.
