Theodore killing motivated by anger over breakup

Associated Press - December 5, 2009 12:54 PM ET

THEODORE, Ala. (AP) - Prosecutors say a 34-year-old man accused of killing his estranged girlfriend at a Theodore group home was angry she had ended their relationship.

Mobile County Assistant District Attorney Ashley Rich told the Press-Register Friday that Demetrius Thomas mistakenly believed Cindy Longmire, the mother of their four children, was seeing someone else.

Mobile County District Judge Michael McMaken on Friday denied Thomas bail, keeping him in Mobile County Metro Jail on a capital murder charge.

Longmire worked at the group home as a caregiver for mentally and physically disabled residents.

Rich said that Thomas has been accused of domestic violence against Longmire in the past and confessed to police that he killed her.
