A WAAY 31 update on the man accused of killing 6 people in two states last July.
Jacob Shaffer is scheduled to appear in a Lincoln County courtroom Thursday morning for a preliminary hearing.
A judge has already ruled that he will undergo a mental evaluation.
The evaluation will determine his state of mind during the time the murders took place.
Shaffer is accused of killing 5 people in Lincoln County, Tennessee and one person in Huntsville.
