Local World War II Vet In History Channel Documentary

Posted:

The new History Channel documentary series "WWII in HD" began airing earlier this week. It follows the stories of 11 soldiers and a nurse through the war, featuring mostly previously unseen color footage.

One of the men featured is Marine Corps PFC. Nolen Marbrey, originally from Huntsville. Marbrey says he enlisted because he didn't see a future in Huntsville at the time. He is described as a "hormone-filled Alabama boy" who "loves three things: drinking, swearing and chasing women."

In episodes that have already aired, Nolen's story in the battles of New Britain and Peleliu are told. In upcoming episodes, we follow him to Okinawa.
