Lauderdale County and Florence city school districts are looking to renew a property tax to avoid budget cuts.
Both systems want a special election next year to renew the 7-percent property tax.
The tax is up for renewal every 30 years and will generate more than a million dollars a year for Florence schools and about $2 million a year for Lauderdale County schools.
The election date is scheduled for January 26.
