JONESBOROUGH, Tenn. (AP) - A northeast Tennessee teenager has been killed in an all-terrain vehicle crash.
Washington County Sheriff Ed Graybeal says when deputies arrived Sunday evening to investigate a crash report, they found an ambulance crew trying to revive a young girl.
The victim was identified as 15-year-old Solana Lyle, who had been riding a four-wheel ATV on her family's property northwest of Johnson City when she lost control and crashed.
The girl died a short time after being taken to the Johnson City Medical Center.
Deputies reported Lyle was wearing a helmet, but suffered internal injuries in the crash.
Tennessee had 322 known ATV deaths through 2006, according to a 2008 report by the U.S. Consumer Products Safety Commission.
