BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - The Alabama National Guard has identified the soldier who was injured in the shooting rampage at Fort Hood, Texas.
Guard officials said Friday that Maj. Randy Royer of the 135th Expeditionary Sustainment Command was hurt. Lt. Col. Cynthia Bachus said Royer is from south Alabama, but his hometown isn't clear. There's a telephone number listed in Royer's name in Dothan.
Bachus says Royer is hospitalized with wounds that aren't considered life-threatening. But he may require surgery.
About 260 members of the 135th are at Fort Hood awaiting deployment to Afghanistan later this year. The group departed Birmingham less than a week ago.
