JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (AP) - Richard Riley, a former U.S. Secretary of Education and South Carolina governor, will speak with Education students at East Tennessee State University.
As Education Secretary under President Clinton, Riley launched initiatives to raise academic standards, expand grants and loans for college students and improve teaching.
He remains an ambassador for improving education.
According to a release from ETSU, Riley is on campus Monday. He will also meet with university staff and local business and community leaders.
