BAY MINETTE, Ala. (AP) - A 52-year-old elementary school principal has died three weeks after contracting an illness doctors said was swine flu.
Leah Ann Overstreet was principal of Delta Elementary School in White House Fork.
Baldwin County school officials say Overstreet was hired in 1987 as a first-grade teacher at Loxley Elementary and taught at other schools before becoming a full-time administrative intern at Perdido School in 2003.
In 2004 she was appointed principal at Delta Elementary, 1 of the county's smallest with 300 students in kindergarten through sixth grade.
She died on Tuesday at Mobile Infirmary.
