ATHENS, Ala. (AP) - Police say a mother and daughter were killed in a highway acccident while they were driving away from a clinic where they had just received swine flu shots.
Workers at the Limestone County Health Department said the two women had gone through an outdoor flu shot clinic before the wreck on U.S. Highway 31 on Wednesday.
Athens police Capt. Marty Bruce said the women's car was entering the highway from the street where the health department is located when it collided with a sport utility vehicle.
Limestone County Coroner Mike West says both women were wearing seatbelts but were killed by the impact. He says officials were unable to contact family members immediately and the names of the victims could not be released.
