A WAAY 31 update on a midweek shooting in Franklin County.
Russellville police have charged 49-year-old Steve Cain of Spruce Pine with attempted murder.
He also faces charges of second-degree burglary and being a felon in possession of a weapon.
Russellville police responded to a suspicious person call at Hometown Pharmacy on Gandy Street.
Cain allegedly ran from police and fired at them in front of a nearby church.
Officers fired back, hitting Cain.
He's in police custody at Huntsville Hospital's Intensive Care Unit.
