JACKSON, Ala. (AP) - Three candidates are competing for the Alabama House District 65 seat, which includes Washington, Clarke and Choctaw counties.
On the Democratic side, Chatom pharmacist Elaine Beech and Jackson pharmacist Ozelle L. Hubert signed up by Friday afternoon's deadline. They will meet in the Democratic primary Sept. 15.
On the Republican side, retired insurance agent and educator Jerry Reed is the only candidate. He will meet the winner of the Democratic primary in the general election on Nov. 3.
The winner will replace Democrat Marc Keahey of Grove Hill, who gave up the seat when he was elected to the state Senate in June.
