City is Growing Faster Than Fire Department

Posted:

TRIANA- The city of Triana is continuing to grow but their volunteer fire department is not.

The Triana Fire Chief Larry Sanders says that they are really trying to keep up with the growth.  They have purchased a second fire engine at the cost of $96,000.  The second engine has a larger water capacity allowing them to better protect the residents of Triana.

"An Analogy, if you are in the desert and needed water, that's how desperately we needed this new fire truck," said firefighter Ruben Flores.   The new engine replaced another fire truck that was over 30 years old.

If you drive up and down just about any street in the city of Triana you will see subdivisions and new homes popping up all over the city.  That is something fire officials say they are trying to keep up with.  They currently have 20 volunteers but they say they desperately need more.
